Writing the Ancients: Ghazal & Pantoum Forms (Jan. 12)

Both the Ghazal and Pantoum are ancient forms from Malaysia and India, though many other nations like to lay claim to their origins. These are two very different poetic forms serving distinctive expressive needs. The ghazal relies on the strength of the associative brain and the Pantoum is capable of clarify confusing situations and feelings. In this 5-hour workshop, we’ll learn how to write these forms in the English language. Students will leave with two completed poems and new historical knowledge about both forms. Open to poetry lovers of any skill or experience level. / Maximum enrollment: 12 students
